KBF Canada Executive Director speaks at AAGEF – “Generating more impact in philanthropy by using methods from the profit sector”

KBF FOUNDATION CANADA was established at the initiative of the Brussels-based King Baudouin Foundation to allow Canadian donors to participate in charities spearheaded by KBF CANADA. 

The King Baudouin Foundation is a large international foundation:

-created in 1976 by the former King of Belgium;

-sectors : health, social justice, arts, development, environment…

-offices in Belgium, the US, and Canada;

-staff of more than 100 people & 2 500 volunteers -annual budget : more than 125 Million CAD -large international network

-750 donor advised funds created by private donors and companies passionate about making the world a better place


The session will be an opportunity to learn and reflect about these new tools, inspired by the profit sector, and which have the ambition to generate more impact, more ‘Social Return on Investment’ in the philanthropic sector.

Benoît Fontaine, its Executive Director, has a Master of Laws from Université de Louvain-la-Neuve. He launched the Venture Philanthropy Fund, an investment fund that actively helps organizations to develop and restructure by coaching them on good governance, long-term strategy, business models, and impact assessment. This fund is operated in partnership with private sponsors and consultancy companies such as Bain and Accenture, which are all driven to maximize the impacts of philanthropic actions.
