EUCCAN Europe Day Celebrations EUCCAN Europe Day celebration, part of the programs nation-wide outreach, was a commemoration of the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, in May 1950, which called for integrated European cooperation and paved the way to the formation of the European Union.  Europe day promotes Europe in Canada and reinforces the relationship and increased collaboration between the two. Welcome to the new EUCCAN website. In 2017 EUCCAN was granted a contract by the EU to support EU companies to take full advantage of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This has allowed EUCCAN to expand its reach and resources in supporting EU companies to better communicate with each other and with EU institutional stakeholders; offering valuable up to date information to EU business in Canada and EU business seeking to enter the Canadian market; and facilitating communication and coordination between the different EU organizations and businesses throughout Canada. On February 23, 2017 EUCCAN in partnership with Global Affairs Canada and supported by the Canada Europe Roundtable for Business (CERT) organized a well-received lunch seminar on “New Opportunities with CETA”. Guest of Honour was The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew, CETA envoy of the Canadian government. Over 180 guests attended the event at the Hilton Toronto. The audience was in a festive mood after the European Parliament approved the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada on February 15, 2017. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and Canada was signed at an EU-Canada Summit in Brussels in October 2016, following on to the conclusion of negotiations in 2014, subsequent translation into all official languages of the EU and Canada, the legal verification of the texts and the preparation of an additional Joint Interpretative Instrument. After approval in the European Parliament in February 2017, CETA received parliamentary approval in both chambers of the Canadian Parliament and Royal Assent was granted by the Governor General on the 16th of May 2017.
